Bowen Therapy is a non-invasive physical therapy for relief from pain & restricted movement & is a popular choice for;

  • rehabilitation following injury or surgery

  • issues in the musculoskeletal system

  •  postural realignment

  • addressing compensatory patterns of movement

  • general physical maintenance to keep you at the top of your game in competitive or non-competitive sports

  • as a boost to your overall wellbeing.

The therapist makes gentle but firm rolling moves  over specific  points of the body which create a disturbance in the

layers of 'fascia' (a type of connective tissue rich in nerve receptors). The session is interspersed with 2 minute breaks which allow the brain & nervous system to process, recalibrate & effect changes within the body.

Typical results reported by clients after a series of 2 to 4 successive sessions are:

notable reductions in pain or discomfort, reduced stiffness & increased range of functional movement, improved posture & a feeling of restored 'balance', improved sleep patterns & a general boost to overall wellbeing.

A typical session addresses all muscle groups from the legs, into the abdomen, up the spine to the upper body, neck & head. Subsequent sessions may focus on more specific areas depending on the client's presenting symptoms.

Bowen Therapy is a holistic therapy - we do not aim to treat specific symptoms or conditions but to look at the person & the body as a whole connected system. During a therapy session we take into account every aspect of a person's life such as medical history, diet, lifestyle, sleep patterns, exercise, medication etc. which will be recorded during the consultation period at the start of the session.

Each Bowen Therapy session will take upto 1hr. You will be expected to bring a list of medications you are taking & to wear light clothing. Clients usually lie both supine & prone during a session but if this is uncomfortable you can lie on your side or remain seated in a chair or wheelchair if you use one. You may be prescribed exercises to practice at home.

To experience the full benefits of Bowen Therapy you will be advised to book 3-4 initial sessions over several consecutive weeks. Many clients like to return on a monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly basis after their initial block of treatments to ensure optimal wellbeing.

***The Bowen Technique is a complementary therapy & not intended as a replacement for mainstream medical care. If you have any concerns about your  health please consult your GP***
